A lobster nick named 'Lobby Joe' was rescued from a Canadian supermarket and shipped on a long journey back to the ocean. After being rescued from a local grocery, the lobster was sent on a 900 mile trip from Ontario to Nova Scotia.

Christine Loughead of Red Lake, Canada came across a single lobster left inside a tank in the deli department while shopping at her local supermarket. Being a vegan, she was inspired to come to the rescue of the animal after seeing him lonely and languishing.

She bought him for $20, took him home and set him up in a salt water tank. Figuring out through online research that the lobster was likely from Nova Scotia, she then found Beth Kent though the Facebook group Vegans United who was willing to set the lobster free.

Christine then paid $225 to have Lobby Joe shipped from a UPS store in Winnipeg, a six hour drive away. The lobster was then shipped to Nova Scotia in a Styrofoam box filled with wet newspaper.

Christine even documented her rescue effort on YouTube. The video ends with Kent’s footage as Lobby Joe is removed from the box and released into a small cove, finally free. May the force be with you, Lobby Joe!
