This Old Horse Saved Its Own Life - Posing as a Donkey!

A thin, gray horse who was being held at a kill pen in Texas made a miraculous escape. Last Christmas, he found himself at a Texas "kill lot," a place where the slaughter pipeline would buy up all of the animals and resell them. That is if they are not rescued through auction by other people or farms.

With both its ears lost due to frost bite, its fate seemed sealed. In usually the last place for horses like him before heading to Mexico to be slaughtered. But he managed to survive, blending in with a bunch of donkeys! And when an opportunity presented itself, he managed to break out!

Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue” a volunteer organization usually makes trip to the lot to buy and rescue unwanted animals, in this case – donkeys. They were surprised to see a horse attempting to inconspicuously blend in.

As volunteer Sue Chapman wrote on Facebook, "When we went to bail the mini donkeys from the kill lot, this skinny, gray gelding walked straight up to our trailer, past the gates, disregarding the commands of the kill lot employees."

The old horse soon went from being an animal no one wanted to a happy one with a name — Bubbles. He's now living out his days in comfort and peace at the non-profit's 100-acre facility.

People — at the sanctuary and all over the world — seem to have taken to him. He now receives tons of gifts and fan-mail from all over the world. He now even has his own Facebook page to tell his story and currently has more than 2,500 likes. How’s that for a second chance!
