This Dog Walks Miles to Meet Friends Every Day
He visits the local deli, city hall, and even his friends at their individual houses. He then heads back home to his owners, Larry and Debbie LaVallee.
“Everybody knows Bruno,” a local resident says, “may not know the people, but you'll know Bruno.”
He's become legendary in negotiating the highway traffic and has been making his journey without incident for all this time. Some in town believe he has a "guardian angel" watching over him.
According to his owners, Bruno was a wanderer from the beginning.
“A guy come in my driveway, and Bruno was a little pup,” Larry remembers, “and he says, ‘I found your dog at the end of your driveway.’ I says, ‘Well he ain’t my dog.’”
He took one look at the pup inside the visitor's car and that was that.
At the end of the day someone gives Bruno a ride back home. He's sure grateful for that since he is not getting any younger.
He is so much loved in the town, that a statue was commissioned in his honor. A carved wooden statute in a park on Longville’s main street with the engraving “Longville’s town dog and ambassador.”
And you can follow his comings and goings on Facebook. Hope his story reminds you to get up and in touch with people around you.
