These Awesome Photos Make You Realize How Small We Are

These photos by Photographer Andrew Ling will make you realize how small we all are in the grand scheme of things. All in breathtaking locations and backgrounds that make the person appear insignificant.

“When I travel, I look for a place that is trying to tell a story,” Ling told weather.com.

The talented 22-year-old has travelled all over the world taking pictures of a single subject - most often himself. He has taken pictures everywhere from California to Chile amidst gushing waterfalls, plunging canyons and gigantic glaciers.

“Mountains and glaciers don’t tend to have voices, so I try to create one for them: Who has climbed them? How are we losing them?” said Ling.

The small figure in the images emphasizes how small we are in our massive world. The Washington-born photographer mostly uses himself as the lone figure by finding the perfect lookout and setting his camera on self-timer.

He proceeds to run as far away as possible to capture the vastness of the scene. Many of his pictures feature completes strangers that he has met while traveling.

He wants people to get out there and explore, because there's so much to see.

Ling is now trying to raise awareness for climate change. “I’m inspired by anything beautiful [and] I’m a little crazy about wanting to save things that I love,” he said. “In this case, it’s the glaciers that we’re losing so quickly to climate change that breaks my heart.”
