Student Lands Job After YouTube Video Goes Viral

An 18 year old student's take on retailer John Lewis Christmas ad went onto rack up almost half a million views and be praised by the retail giant itself. The 85-second ad “The Snowglobe” tells the tale of a lonely snowman longing for a friend while trapped inside one of the festive ornaments.

Nick Jablonka, an A-level media student, who took mini-movies for his coursework, made the video as part of his media coursework and uploaded it to YouTube a few months back. Nicks revealed that he was asked to analyze John Lewis' festive ads by his teacher, before spending "two stressful weeks" perfecting the short animated clip.

The animated ad begins with a snowman trapped inside an ornament falling in love with another snow person who is outside. The trapped snowman sadly counts down the days until Christmas, each day more gloomy than the next. He daydreams of time spent being with his far removed love and our heart breaks for him. The message behind the whole advert is one that speaks volumes around the holiday season. You will have to watch it to find out what the message is.

A more heart-warming snowman story than this one:

Now  PR agency W Communications have tweeted a job offer to the Bournemouth University student. The company has created a “bespoke role” for Jablonka, which he can take up immediately or when he graduates from university. Attaboy! Talent always gets recognition, right?
