Little Green Men Doing Yoga
Dan Abramson, from San Francisco and an art director, sketched the GI Joes doing yoga as a lark while in a coffee-shop. He went on Kickstarter and raised $108,065 from 2,879 backers far above his $40,000 goal.
The first collection of Yoga Joes was released back in 2014. The originals were available in traditional green and bright purple (a hot pink range was sold out).
Abramson wanted these little Army men to convert a few regular dudes who were nervous about going to yoga classes. But an astonishing number of military members, veterans and their families reached out to him after the launch. Soldiers and veterans started using yoga to cope with major stress or PTSD.
And some just liked having Yoga Joes around to remind them to chill out. Now he's about to release a set of the figures in more advanced yoga poses. The batch has six next-level Yoga Joe figurines, each portraying different positions.
The poses include firefly, peacock, mermaid arm variation, lotus headstand, and perhaps the amazing spherical helmet variation. Now, this new advanced set is available for pre-order for a discounted price of $20 USD.
