Five Hollywood Stars Who Rock!

Five Hollywood Stars Who Rock!

It only seems natural when musicians take to acting. However it feels odd when established movie stars want to play music. More often than not, their performance turns out to be cringe-worthy. But not in the case of these Hollywood hunks.

Actor Ryan Gosling is part of the rock duo 'Dead Man's Bones' alongwith his friend Zach Shields. They met in 2005, discovered a mutual affinity for the supernatural and decided to write songs about ghosts and monsters. Their song "In the Room Where you Sleep" was featured in the 2013 horror hit 'The Conjuring'.

In the early 90's 'Speed' and 'Matrix' star Keanu Reeves played bass guitar in the grunge band Dogstar. They have opened for acts including Bon Jovi, David Bowie etc, toured world wide and appeared at the 1999 Glastonbury Festival. The band plans to release a concert film featuring early tour footage.

Action star Bruce Willis enjoyed a short-lived music career and still occasionally dabbles in the blues. His 1987 album, 'The Return of Bruno' was ostensibly made by his alter ego, a blues singer named Bruno Radolini. The single “Respect Yourself,” even made it to No. 5 on the U.S. charts.

The most accomplished actor of this lot, Johnny Depp has the most consistent and prolific music output as well. An accomplished guitarist, he has played on songs by Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Joe Perry etc. Recently he has formed a super-group with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry called Hollywood Vampires. The group has performed live at the Grammy's L.A.'s Roxy Theatre and at Brazil's Rock in Rio fest.

(In)Famous multi-tasker and Oscar winner Jared Leto is the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter of the alternative rock group 'Thirty Seconds to Mars'. The band has sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Leto is set to essay the role of supervillain Joker in upcoming comic book movie 'Suicide Squad'.

With the exception of Leto & Reeves, the rest seem to be indulging in passion projects. Still its good that these guys have the chops, and the freedom to do whatever they want. All thanks to Hollywood!
