Black Friday Chaos - Shoppers Fight, Trash Stores
One shopper compared the madness to a natural disaster. Reportedly an estimated 20,000 shoppers in search of Black Friday bargains literally tore through the shop in the space of 2 hours. Needless to say the retail staff were overwhelmed.

It might be tough to watch the aftermath of the consumerist chaos, but here's the video proof of the craziness.
While most of us associate the “Black Friday” with crazy deals and leftover turkey, it was originally rooted in similar chaos. In 1950s Philadelphia, the Thanksgiving Friday was termed “Black Friday” because the city was flooded with tourists for the Army-Navy football game on Saturday.

Public officials including the police and medical personnel were forced to work — very long hours — to deal with the high amount of traffic, crime and fights. Not unlike the ones we witnessed last week.
Even though retailers later hijacked the term — claiming that this one shopping day put them “in the black” for the whole year — we seem headed back to the older times.
