Video: The Ultimate (Expensive) Chicken Sandwich

Minnesota-based Andy George took on the task of making the ultimate chicken sandwich. In a twist to the phrase "from farm-to-table" he went to the literal extreme. Instead of running to the local supermarket for ingredients, he sourced all of it from scratch!

It took six months and a whopping $1500! An exhausting 16-step process that had him grow a garden (#1), harvest wheat (#10) and of-course, slaughter a chicken (#14). He even built a press to extract sunflower oil!

The results was not only an edible item of food, but a deeper look into our culture of convenience. Purchasing a sandwich that is already made is a modern luxury that we often take for granted.

He planned to do everything locally in Minnesota, but for salt had to head to the West Coast. He boarded a flight, collected ocean water, boiled it down and baked it to form salt.

All of his hard work did pay off in the end, but not a particularly delicious one as can be seen in the video. Andy is the founder of a new video series called "How to Make Everything" on YouTube where you can find more of his crazy ideas.
