Video : Prisoners Break Out of Cell to Save Guard

A few inmates of the Parker County Jail broke out of their holding cell and risked their safety. All to help a guard who had keeled over from an apparent heart attack. The jailer was guarding them at the courthouse.

At least eight inmates were in the basement holding cell when the lone guard slumped and fell. After breaking out, the inmates began shouting for help and banging on the locked doors. The commotion was so loud that officers in the upstairs court-room heard the commotion.

Officers ran down believing a fight had broken out. The inmates were herded back into the cell and paramedics revived the guard. The incident at June 23 in the district courts building in Weatherford was captured on video.

The guard is now recovering and expected back at work shortly. Inmates or not, these guys rocked! The good deed didn't go unnoticed in that the authorities fixed the holding cell so the inmates could not escape again. An inevitable sad ending to a feel good story.
