This Zoo Is Going for Pokemons in a Big Way

Pokémon Go is the latest hottest game everyone's going crazy about, but to the detriment of a few. Areas of the Birmingham Zoo, Alabama too are part of the game map, and quite a few visitors were spending more time on their phones catching digital beasts than looking at the live animals.

That's when someone at the Zoo decided to incorporate Pokémon into the business. Anna Turkett, a zookeeper who works for the Zoo, spiced up a few bird photos and descriptions - of the Pokémon variety.

Several Pokémon Go-themed signs were put up outside animal enclosures. The signs break down the crucial stats of each animal, including the type of animal it is, its weight and height, and even some of its abilities.

She also shared them on her Tumblr blog titled (ahem!) Zookeeper Problems. "Decided to jump on the Pokémon Go hype train at the zoo! Hey, if you can’t beat ‘em," she wrote.

The social media post has since received over 22,000 comments and some even promising to make trips down to the zoo to see the signs in person. The zoo is also offering half-price admission to visitors who have the app on their phones. That's the way to Go - the Pokémon way!
