The Perfect Glass for the Perfect Drink
And its all down to science. Certain glassware hold the aroma well and has been sub-consciously trendy from ages ago. Like pint glasses for English ales, Tulip glasses for Pilsners and some Belgian-style beers.
Matthew Cummings, a huge sour beer fan has been a glass blower and a professional sculptor for a decade. He began thinking about beer in terms of design leading to flavor back when breweries and stores didn't have much variety in beer glassware to speak of.
Cummings and his artsy friends decided to blow some glasses that would fit perfectly into their hands. Thats how he decided to start the Pretentious Beer Glass Co.
The Tennessee-based Co. claims to make glassware for "every element of beer — aromatic, yeasty, malty. "So now you can have your choice of craft beer - be it a pale ale or barrel-aged stout, in a glass with some style."
Each glass is made to showcase a particular type of beer. Like the malty beer glass that sports several “waists” that trap bubbles and ensure you get a little carbonation with every sip. The Co. at present offers seven beer glasses, all handmade.
