Cabanas No Rio (cabins on the river) lies in Comporta, only one hour away from Lisbon, Portugal. Two old refurbished fisherman cabins might not look very spacious, but its design and space management is more than adequate comfort for two people.
A project by designer/architect Aires Mateus, two recovered huts have in total only 28 square meters of space. The roofs, floors, walls and furniture of the two cabins are completely made of recycled wooden panels.
The material is left exposed, both inside and outside, so the weather can change its color, and the wood still retains its quality.
In one part there is a living area and a small kitchen, and in the other a bedroom with a four-poster bed, bathroom with an outdoor shower and a terrace with an excellent view of the Sado River.
It is located in a region well-known for its stunning white-sand beaches, wine, paddy fields and fresh fish.
A natural reserve and the habitat of many animals, such as bottlenose dolphins, storks and flamingos, this place is one of the best destinations in the country for nature tourism.
This romantic hideaway is ideal to relax, recharge batteries and simply enjoy nature.
