You might have heard of wandering blues men or six string samurai, but a guy who lugs a 400 pound piano around ? Maybe he hasn't heard of lighter instruments, say a harmonica ?
Dotan Negrin quit his job in 2010 as an art mover in New York City, and began moving his piano instead. He sold off his possessions to buy a truck for his piano. He has covered 300 cities in the five years since.
He has taken the thing from the Redwood Forest to the Key West, been to Central America and Europe, always finding an unlikely place to perform, even in the most populous cities. These included the breathtaking Grand Canyon and iconic Eiffel Tower.
"I do it because not everybody can do it. I do it for the challenge." "I get to play piano in these amazing settings," he said. "It's like this beautiful auditorium."
Whenever he lands at a random place, he doesnt have anything concrete plans. He keeps an open mind, meets the locals then makes a spontaneous decision. This attitude has fared will for him so far. In a few instances where the law has prevented him from performing, he takes it in his stride and moves on.
